Nearly all yoga styles are rooted in Hatha Yoga (yoga’s physical discipline that focuses on developing control of the body through asanas, or poses). In Sanskrit, ha represents sun and tha represents moon. Hatha represents the duality in life — yin and yang, masculine and feminine, darkness and light. It leads the way to balancing these opposing forces; it is the yoga of physical well-being.

While all yoga styles bring balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit, they go about it in various ways. They may differ in how asanas are done and where they focus the attention (on mastering and holding the posture, on strict alignment, on breathing, or on the flow of movement). Some will use props; others will crank up the temperature and go for the sweat. No one style is better than another; it is simply a matter of personal preference. For best results, find an instructor that you can relate to and a style that furthers your own personal growth and you’ll be well on your way to bringing harmony to your life!

Harmony Yoga uses the Cycle of Fung Shui to create a complete yoga practice. Using the 5 key elements, you are led on a journey of self-discovery during your practice of yoga.

The Wind classes are an exploration of continuous movement using smooth vinyasa flow. Performed in mostly standing postures, the smooth and continuous movements will allow you to connect with your body in a new way while allowing your mind to release the chatter of the day. Experience the freedom of the wind as you move gently through the poses. Although reminiscent of a Tai Chi class, the poses and movements will vary with each class with no memorization of movements.
(Challenge Level II)

The Sky Classes are specially designed to help you relax and unwind, clearing all the chatter in your head. Here you will find several different styles. Please check the calendar for specific classes.

Yin Yoga – Yin Yoga focuses on the relaxed holding of postures for longer periods of time (3 to 6 minutes). These longer holds benefit the connective tissues of the body such as tendons and ligaments, allowing them to stretch in a deep, relaxing way. The limited movement gives the body and mind time to slow down and drop into stillness, cultivating a meditative component of practice. Practitioners will increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility. This class is a wonderful compliment to traditional yang (movement-based) yoga styles of practice. (All levels)

Yoga Nidra – Yoga Nidra facilitates deep relaxation and rest. The practice consists of some gentle asanas followed by Guided Meditation while students recline in Savasana pose (resting pose). Benefits include: releasing muscular , emotional and mental tension, reduced stress, reduced Cortisol levels, enhanced memory and learning capacity, awakened creativity, releasing repressed matter and increasing of willpower. (All levels)

Li’l Yogis - For children, ages 5-10 years. This 45-minute class will allow them to learn how to move their bodies, relax their minds, and create community with others. Li’l yogis promotes mental and physical strength, flexibility, coordination, confidence and self-esteem.
