Ever thought about taking a Yoga class but couldn’t imagine yourself as a human pretzel? If you’re like me, you get a good chuckle of the image in your head but the sad part is that we let that get in the way of even trying.
Yoga is about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of asanas (or postures), each of which has specific physical benefits. It’s not only ok that new students don’t perfectly execute the asanas, but it’s expected. Wow! That’s a relief!
The good news is that most of us start out weak and inflexible so you’re not alone! With practice, you’ll start to notice your strength and flexibility increase. Before long, you’ll notice you’re sleeping better, dealing with stress better, and generally feeling better, both physically and mentally.
So, next time you think about taking a Yoga class, be brave! The benefits are incredible!
